I was and am very enthusiastic about technology. However, technology should also be used wisely. Instead of testing technical gagdets at home, it was important for me to gain real life experience.
As a result, I was able to supervise the screening technology on a voluntary basis at a film festival and gain experience with a renowned lighting master and a recognized lighting designer.
It is an international film festival for non-commercial films that takes place annually.
Since the age of fifteen, at that time as part of a school project, I assisted to build up the screening technique and to take care of it for a week.
In the early 2000s, this required the knowledge of various playback technologies and formats. Over time, the playback technology was digitized at the amateur field, which brought new challenges.
In the non-professional field, there is always the need of volunteer.
Accordingly, I have not only supervised the screenings, but produced a daily cinematic summary of the day in the first years, made interviews for Radio FRECH, shot photos and organized various activities for excursions. A very versatile week with very little sleep and lots of fun!
I volunteered for a few years assisting a light designer in Bad Leonfelden (AT) and Steyr (AT). In both these Austrian places there are theatrical and musical productions in the summer months.
I helped building up the light design and served a follow spot during the performances.
Below you can get an idea of the productions through a few YouTube videos.
